Cantilever sliding gates

Cantilever sliding gate hardware.

A Cantilever Sliding Gate will remove the need for tracking along the length of the opening.  A cantilever gate is suspended over the entrance with horizontal posts.  Cantilever gates are quieter than the traditional floor track systems.

However due to the nature of the cantilever design an additional section of gate is required to 'hang' over the carriage units, often behind a wall or hedge perimeter. This means that additional room is needed beside the gate opening than a tracked version and may prevent you from choosing this option.

A simple way to look at this system is that you have two carriage units that look like upside down roller skates and a track the runs on these rollers.  The gate sits on top of this track.

Advantages over traditional sliding gate floor track.

Good for uneven ground.
Smooth operation.
Not as affected by debris, although concrete in floor track with the 20mm rod does not really suffer from this problem either.

Disadvantages over traditional sliding gate floor track.

Cost they have more expensive and heavier components.
Gravity they are under constant stress during operation.
Harder to fit, they need a large concrete base to hold the carraige units down.
Size, the gate needs to be longer to counterbalance the weight.
Asthetics, you have a large track that is generally wider than your gate.

In summary, do not use a cantilever system unless the ground is uneven, when your sliding gate is running across the ground it won't move or drop.

The electric gate shop offer the Rolling Centre cantilever sliding gate system.  Rolling centre is the original manufacture of cantilever sliding gate products and the world's best selling.
